TRADEMARK RENEWAL

Don’t Let Your Trademark Expire: Renew on Time!

Your trademark registration in Malaysia is valid for 10 years from the date of filing. To keep your trademark protected, you must renew it every 10 years.

Renewing Your Trademark:

  • Renewal Deadline: Renew your trademark before its 10-year expiration date by submitting Form TME1 and paying the prescribed fee of RM1,000.00.
  • Benefits: Successful renewal extends your trademark protection for another 10 years.

Missed the Renewal Deadline?

  • Grace Period: If you missed the renewal deadline, you have a 6-month grace period to renew by submitting Form TME2 and paying a late fee of RM1,200.00.
  • Restoration Option: If you miss the grace period, your trademark is removed. However, you can request restoration within 6 months of removal by submitting Form TME3 and paying a restoration fee of RM1,500.00.
  • Consequences of Non-Renewal: If you miss both the renewal and restoration deadlines, your trademark registration will cease. Others can then apply to register the trademark.
